Neighbors from Bois d'Amon, Morbier and Morez (Haut-Jura) manufacture "Comtoises" (Iron Cage) and clocks "Morbier" clocks since the mid-seventeenth century.
In 1640, we began to make simple wooden clocks, with one needle.
In 1750, the first cuckoo clock was built in the "Black-Forest" in Germany. Currently, the bulk of cuckoo clocks comes from the Black-Forest.
A small production comes from Switzerland and the former East Germany.
"The cuckoo clock is on the rise, for it conveys the memories and thanks to technological advances that allow it to adapt to the habits of modern life.
We must distinguish 2 types of cuckoo clocks
First, the cuckoo "from fields and forests" that work with a perpetual through chains and weight.
And then the cuckoo from "cities" with a quartz movement that runs on batteries and assistance that leads to have all kind of sounds (Cuckoo song, ind blow, river, Westminster chime ...) and flexible in terms of intensity so as not to disturb the neighbors or to encourage silence once the night has come.
